NBC MONITORS THE OFF -SEASON GUBERNATORIAL ELECTIONS IN BAYELSA,IMO AND KOGI STATES.

A special monitoring team from the Commission’s Headquarters and Zonal Offices are on ground in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi States to monitor the broadcast coverage and reportage of the off-season Gubernatorial elections in the states.

The Bayelsa delegation led by Director, Investigation and Enforcement, Mrs. Gloria Makinde, on Friday, 10th November, 2023, visited some broadcast stations in the state, to provide monitoring feedback and further sensitize broadcasters on the need for professionalism in the coverage of the elections. Stations visited include People’s FM, Nigeria Delta Television, Glory FM, Rhytmn FM Yenegoa and phone engagements with Island FM Ammasoama.

Ms. Pauline Ehusani, Zonal Director, Abuja Zone, who is the leader of the team monitoring Kogi state, also met with broadcasters and called for complete professionalism in the coverage of the elections for the good of the Nation.

In Imo State, the team led by Mr. Stanilus Aneke, Acting Director, Broadcast Policy and Research, implored broadcasters to display utmost civility in the coverage and reportage of the election.

Mr. Athan Achonu, the Labour Party candidate for the Imo gubernatorial election and his wife, Aisha, have cast their votes in their polling unit at Mbaitoli local government area.

Mr. Achonu looks forward to taking over from the incumbent Governor Hope Uzodinma. Online Parrot News is monitoring and reporting the events as they are happening in Imo State.

The Labour Party candidate addressed pressmen shortly after he dropped his ballot paper into the box. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and said he was sure of victory in the election.
